Week 1
Activity 1; Using technologies for art, teaching and learning.
Today we learnt how to use Adobe Photoshop. I found this a little difficult at first although my peers were of great assistance which I like to encourage in my classroom. When teaching 25 or so students it is hard to get round to everyone really quickly so I like to encourage students to assist their class members, I call them ‘mini-teachers’, this also encourages independence in the children. Below is an example of the completed photo-shop product, starting with the head shot and finding the background.

I had lots of fun doing this activity and I'm positive my students would love to attempt this. Below is a lesson format of how this can be taught in class.

The elements and principles of art;
In this lesson we explored elements and principles of art with the use of real-life pictures of insects and using a view finder. We explored 4 different elements of art using the same section of a picture. The elements included line, tone, colour and texture.
Below is my interpretation of a picture I used the view finder on.

WEEK 2
Activity 3; Using digital images to create a digital story.
Due to the previous week of learning about photoshop this lesson was great as we had to find a digital image and photoshop it into various other photo's in order to create a digital story on powerpoint. Due to the high numbers of students in our class, there were limited computers available so Dan Brown and myself paired up on this occasion to create a story called Billy travels Europe. We really enjoyed this and I believe working in pairs helps aid the creative process even more. It is also important to note that computers in schools are also of high demands and most schools are yet to have enough for a whole class to use at a given time, so as a teacher you need to find ways that students can work together to still gain the learning outcome required. Below is the story we created.

Below is an idea for a lesson plan to implement this in the classroom.
My arts philosophy is all about integrating arts into the other subjects and this is a perfect chance to integrate visual art and technology into writing.
